Happy Father's Day, Happy Birthday, and a small reunion!

Hello again everyone! As you can see I am quite the happy boy lately. I'm starting to smile alot and much to the chagrin of my parents I've started to emit a high pitched squeal when I'm excited about something..... Actually, I make the noise just because I like making the noise!

As everyone knows, a Father's Day was celebrated last week!

Here I am with Daddy at a restaurant in Pasadena.

Grand Auntie Christina and Great Grandmother Kan (not pictured) was there too. Grand Auntie was super excited to see me. She hasn't seen me for awhile! Don't I look super cool with my shades?! 








And here is a shot of Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa Kan, and Grand Auntie Christina. I have my hand on Daddy because I know he's mine!

Later that Father's Day , we met with Grandpa Waki and celebrated with him for dinner! Here we are opening some of his presents.

 Here I'm getting sized up with one of his shirts. It's too big, Grandpa!









These are too big too! One day I'll fit them though!












The very next day was my Uncle Jon's birthday. Happy birthday, Uncle Jon! As you can see, I'm pretty happy to be held by him.

I also finally got to meet Uncle Greg and Auntie Keely, Dad's old high school friend. He and his wife live down in San Diego, but we just haven't been able to coordinate a time to meet until now. Uncle Greg was a complete natural! I kept on looking up at him to see who was carrying me, and smiling when I found out it was him.



I hope I get to see them again soon!

And last, here I am being a squirmy wormy.... I started out in the crib facing the right way, but Daddy found me in the morning like this. I guess I'm just getting more mobile everyday. Pretty soon, I'll be crawling!

OK, see you next week! I heard alot of my cousins will be coming down soon.... and it'll be Mommy's birthday!

22 weeks!

This week was pretty quiet. I spent most of the week at my Grandpa and Grandma Kan's house while my parents at work. The grandparents kept me busy! As you can see here, Grandma is showing me some delicious tomatoes that Great Grandma Kan grew in her yard.

She's probably showing me because she thinks I'm getting ready for solid food soon. Lately I've been showing alot of interest in putting things into my mouth. Pretty much everything goes in now... even my toys.

I seem to like this sensation when I'm on my back; I shoot my legs up straight and tilt one way. The momentum usually carries me to one side. I use it to scoot around a little on the mat.

 Here's another thing I'm starting to get better at... sitting! I can hold it a little while if I'm concentrating. But sooner or later, I start to tilt to one side and end up like this. Ah well.... I'll get the hang of it like my Cousin Julia someday!

Here I am taking a little ride with Grandma Kan. It's actually an exercise machine. Tsk tsk, Grandma! You've been telling Daddy to be extremely conservative with me, but you put me on this? Daddy caught you red-handed! :)

 Here's a picture that Uncle Calvin might like. It's hard to see in the photo but the little sumo figurine in front was something Uncle Calvin got Daddy and Mommy as a souvenir from Japan. Daddy was having fun posing me the same way.

 On Saturday, we all went to a street fair together. I was asleep most of the time but I got to see some of the sights.















I also got two brand new toys this week!

The first one is called a Winkel. Since I'm starting to explore morewith my hands and mouth, Mommy and Daddy got this one to keep me interested. They remember my cousin Alyssa using it alot, so thought I might like it too.

I like holding it and looking at all the colors.

The second is a toy Daddy has been wanting to get for me for a long time but I wasn't big enough for it until now. As you can see, I'm still on the small side for it, but I really like spinning the whale and making the crab click around.

It's also good practice for keeping my head straight. So much fun!

In my quiet times, though, I like books the best. here you can see me sitting all my own touching all the textures in this book. I particularly like this one because it's soft and crinkly noises when I touch it.

I also try to put the book in my mouth but my parents say that's not how I'm supposed to be using it.... oh well! :)











My Grandpa and Grandma Waki are back from their vacation this week so I'm excited to see them again! I've missed them because I haven't seen them for about 2 weeks!

5 months!

Hi Hi! This is now my new favorite thing to do. I've been starting to explore the world with my hands.... and try to put everything into my mouth. My bib is one of those things that ended up in my mouth and as you can see, I'm quite happy about it :)

edit: Apparently Daddy put this picture on the blog last week already... oh well! you get to see it again.

Over the past couple weeks, I started doing a few new things. One... I found my feet! and I sure do love holding them.

Diaper changes are getting more challenging for mom and dad because I'm starting to get very squirmy. The first thing I always try to do now is grab my feet. Maybe I'll see if I can get one in my mouth............... probably by next week.




Boo! I found you Daddy! This is another game I've started to like to play....

I particularly like it when he lifts me up. For some reason I start to laugh when he does it!

 I've also started to like sitting on my Mommy and Daddy's shoulders. I think it's great fun and I'm always smiling when I'm up there. Maybe I like seeing what they see!

 Or maybe I'm just hungry....

I had dinner with Mommy's family this past week. My Grand Uncle Stanley came into town so the family got together. I didn't get a picture with him but I did get one with my Grand Auntie Karen.













And Uncles Isaac  and Kyle and Auntie Mindy!

 

I've been having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Kan during the week while my parents work.

I've also started to work on my piano skills. Everyone thinks I've got some potential there. What do you think?

Grand Auntie #1 was in town so Grandma and Grandpa Kan took me to visit her.

 We also went to pay a visit to my late - Great Grandpa Kan.

Late Mother's Day Post, a trip to the museum, and videos!

 Happy Belated Mother's Day everyone! Sorry for the missed post last week. Daddy was having issues uploading things to the blog. Looks like everything's working now though so we're going to pick up where we left off last time.

Last weekend was Mother's Day and I got to celebrate it with both my grandmother's! First on Saturday, we took Great Grandmother and Grandmother Kan to the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel.

Here I am waiting for a table with the 3 guests of honor. That's 3 generations of mothers!

 Unfortunately Mommy was feeling a little under the weather so she didn't hold me very much. That's why I have virtually no pictures with her.

Still she looked lovely and super proud to be a mother.

 We gave Great Grandmother Kan a photo of me. She says she'll hang it on her wall at her home

 Grandmother Kan got a coffee table-sized photobook of me. It has a collection of pictures of me of the first 3 months.

Here I am with Grandma again. Recently, I've started noticing the little faces on my feet. I'm fascinated that they move when I wiggle my toes... it's mezmerizing.........

On Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa Waki came over and we celebrated with them! Yay!

 The next weekend (this weekend), Mommy and Daddy took me to the Natural History Museum in LA. They had a special bug exhibit and I got to see all kinds of bugs. Here I am looking at some cave spiders with Mommy.

They even gave me a sticker.

 There were other things at the museum too. Like mammal and dinosaur exhibits

 Aside from our couple excursions, there have a few new things recently. Grandma and Grandpa Kan are now helping out to watch me during the week. They seem to be having a great time with me. I even started one of my brand new tricks while they were watching me. Here take a look!

 I'm also starting to get interested in putting things into my mouth. Here I am at Grandpa's sticking my bib into my mouth and being quite proud of it.










 I surprised Daddy when I decided to grab the bottle and hold it.

It's a little hard to see but I am holding the bottle all by myself!

 I also have a fantastic time with Mommy. I always love it when she's around!

 After all that excitement, you can imagine how tuckered out I am.... we'll see you next week!

18 weeks, a work party and yup... a return to Disneyland!

Help! I'm stuck!

Mommy came into the room finding me in this position. Turns out Daddy wrapped me up in their blankets to help me sit up for this picture. I actually sat up for quite awhile this way and enjoyed it. Guess I just love the sensation.

Speaking of new sensations, here I am with my latest toy, a Sophie Giraffe! It's a teether toy but I'm not growing teeth yet. I just like holding it and putting it into my mouth. Sometimes I squeeze it hard enough to make it squeak! All great fun!

Here I am in a paper samurai hat that my Great Grandmother Matsumoto folded for me. Don't I look fierce?

This week I got to meet ALOT of new people. First off, we went to a work party that my Daddy's friend hosted. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture with everyone but I did get a picture with the hosts. This is Prapti, my Daddy's coworker, and her husband, Raj.

There were definitely alot of people that wanted to hold me and I did well with all of them. Mommy and Daddy's arms got a break that night!

 And look where we ended up again!

Yup, Disneyland! (told you we'd be here alot). This time Uncle King and Auntie Idy showed up to walk around with me. We went on Small World together and had alot of fun...

 ... We also went on Winnie the Pooh but I have no recollection of that because this was what I did the entire ride.


My parents were amazed even with all the noise and motion I didn't stir at all. Ah well.... I'll see that ride next time...










Guess what? Turns out Uncle Calvin and Uncle Warren was there as well! They happened to be there with other friends at Disneyland and we had a chance to get some pictures together.

 

See how big I am in Uncle Calvin's arms? I must really be growing! Uncle Warren's a natural too, I was smiling alot in his arms.

 Last but not least, Mommy took this picture of me and Daddy when he wasn't looking. Apparently she was laughing at how much we look alike when we watch tv.... What do you think? Daddy thinks he finally sees a little resemblance there...

We were watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. Why?.... because it happened to be on .... :)
