Red Egg and Ginger Party Part 2

Hello everyone! I apologize for the lack of updates. We are almost 4 weeks behind, yikes! Don't worry though. There are PLENTY of pictures coming your way because we've been very active in March. Throughout the week you'll see several posts of what Joshua's been up to this past month! (Eric)

First, the rest of the Red Egg and Ginger Party pictures... As we mentioned before, we're so grateful that so many people came out to help celebrate... God truly has put wonderful people in our lives and we were so happy to see the smiling faces that you'll see throughout this post. We won't go through listing every single person, else this post would just be a big list of names... and if we missed getting a picture with you we hope to get one of with you again soon!

As you can see... so many smiling faces to meet me! The cake that Grandpa and Grandma Kan got me was exactly like the one on my invitation. It even had a bird's nest with red eggs in it on top

Here is Anne and Linda. At the shower we played a game where people would try to guess my birth date to get a prize. They correctly guessed not only my birth date, but my exact birth weight as well! Here they are getting their well-deserved prize!

Again so many smiling faces looking forward to hold me. My Granduncle Glenn, Grandauntie Amy, and Uncle Neil flew down from San Francisco just to attend the party. This was the first time I got to meet them.

It was also the first time I got to meet Grandauntie Magdalen and Granduncle Eddie.

I got to meet all of my grandparents' church,work, and family friends as well as my parent's friends. We are especially thankful for them for all the prayers and support they've given ever since my parents found out they were having me. We cannot express enough how grateful we are. We are happy that we were able to give them a reason to get together and celebrate.......... well.... little ol' me!

Red Egg and Ginger Party Part 1

Hello everyone!

This week will be a 2-parter since everything happened just a few hours ago and there isn't any time to get the pictures uploaded.

But it was an exciting evening as my grandparents threw me a Red Egg and Ginger Banquet! This is a party to celebrate good health for both me and my Mommy. Also, just a great opportunity to meet all the people who have been so eager to see me since I was born.

I got to meet soooo many people and my parents say I behaved very well. We feel so happy and blessed that so many people came out to help celebrate with us. It is a real blessing that I have so many great role-models to follow in my life.

For now, all I have to share is this little slideshow of the first 2 months of my life that my parents made for me.

Daddy's little big boy, 2 month checkup

This post is called Daddy's boy because... well... turns out Daddy is in pretty much every picture... So this week is semi-officially Daddy-themed! Here I am smiling for him!

We went in for my 2 month check up this week. I now weigh 12 lbs, 14 oz, and am 22 3/4" long and have a head circumference of 40.5 cm. That puts me in the 67th, 40th, and 89th percentile for weight, length, and head size.

Again, I have no idea what that all means... but my parents are happy that I'm getting bigger.

I got to spend some time with Dad because he got to work from home on Monday. Just to make sure he didn't slack off, I kept close watch of his work.





Still.. he's pretty funny and made me smile with his jokes...

Speaking of joking around, he also mentioned he wanted to start a new exercise video series called "Pumping It Up with Baby!". He calls this move 'Baby bicep curls'... as you can see, I'm not impressed at all...

Stop being so silly, Dad...

Daddy also started to teach me a little piano as well.

Wait.... why are all these pictures with Daddy you may be asking? Where's Mommy? Well she's a little camera-shy, we'll need to make sure to get her in more pictures in the future! For now, this week's entry is a special one for Dad.

8th week, more adventures!

Happy 8 weeks to me! This week went by quickly and lots of things went on!

Here I am in a sweater my Grandma Kan knit for me. She was worried it wouldn't fit over my head so she told my parents we better put it on me sooner than later. Here I am modeling it, don't I look smart?

Speaking of Grandma Kan, it was her birthday on Wednesday. We went over to her house and had dinner. It was quiet and I slept most of the time but I'm glad we got to spend it with her. Happy birthday!! This was your first birthday as a Grandma!

On Saturday, my parents and grandparents took me to The Huntington Library. I had my first Afternoon Tea there.. I got to see alot of interesting flowers and some koi. It was my first long outing and my parents thought I did great. Of course I did great, mom and dad! You should take me out more!

On Sunday, we went to see Uncle Jon and his church group sing at the mall. It was a Chinese New Year fair and he sang a medley of Christian praise songs acapella. It all sounded very very good, bravo Uncle Jon! Encore, encore!

Of course, it turned out I was quite the celebrity :) Grand Auntie Yvonne was there and got to meet me! She took care of my Dad (and Uncle Jon)  way back when he was little.... way waaaay back... :)



Last but not least, I finally got to see my Auntie Tisha again! I missed her so much. I didn't behave very well during dinner so I didn't get to see much of Grandma and Grandpa Waki or Great Grandmother Matsumoto but I will see them next week.  It's not my fault I wasn't behaving! I was getting hungry and Mommy and Daddy didn't plan well... shame!


Once I got home and got something to eat I was much happier! Auntie Tisha even read me a bedtime story. I was sooo interested... she's a great storyteller. Please come back and visit me soon!

Busy week! lots of VISITORS!

Wow it's already Wednesday! We're 3 days late on this blog... what's the deal? (serious face)

Well it was a super busy week last week that's why. So let's get right to it! First up, Auntie Idy came out to visit me on Monday. She got me lots of goodies that my parents are very grateful for. Daddy says she's a great pianist and I hope to learn a little something from her one day!

We ended going to a place called the Terranea Resort and had a great dinner there by the ocean. It was a beautiful sunset but I missed pretty much all of it because I was sleeping.... Oh well, I'll appreciate nature next time. For now, I loved seeing my auntie.













On Tuesday, we celebrated Daddy's birthday! We went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate... the de facto place to celebrate birthdays, apparently. Happy Birthday, Daddy! and many moooooree!

On Wednesday, Grand Auntie Camelia came by to visit. She was down from San Ramon. She made one of the decorations in my room. It is a baby ball made out of red envelopes. She explained to Mommy that it is meant to represent alot of good wishes she has for me: intelligence, doing well in school, happiness,and more siblings. It even has a little fish on the tassel which represents the Japanese celebration of Children's Day.  Isn't that so thoughtful?

On Valentine's day, Mommy and Daddy and I spent a nice quiet evening together at home. It was nice and low-key. We celebrated with this strawberry-flavored, chocolate covered ice cream cake. MMM! Happy Valentine's!

I also got to visit Grandpa and Grandma Waki at their house on Saturday! It was the first time I've ever been at their house and I enjoyed it very much. They were kind enough to cook Daddy a delicious prime rib dinner for his birthday. And afterwards, they played with me, of course!



On Sunday, we ended up with a last-minute surprise visitor. Uncle Mike came by! He was in town and ended up visiting little old me even though he is a very busy guy. I can tell he's really good with babies because he calmed me down every time I started to cry. We went to a chinese restaurant to eat dinner and everyone got a chance to carry me because I was wide awake.

Finally, Monday was a very special day for Mommy and Daddy. They celebrated their 5th Anniversary! I decided not to tag along since it was their special day and all, so I got spend some more time with Grandpa and Grandma Kan and Uncle Jon again. Mommy and Daddy didn't have me to take pictures of so they took pictures of their food instead. I've decided I'm much cuter and more interesting.. but I'm happy they had a good time

Happy Lunar New Year! Year of the Snake!

Hello everybody! Gung Hay Fat Choy!

What a week! I had my very first Chinese New Year! Do you like my hat? My beautiful Grand Auntie Christina gave it to me! It's supposed to be a tiger and I think I look ferocious, RAWR!

On Saturday, I got to see both my Great Grandmother Kan and Grand Auntie Christina for the first time since they visited me at the hospital. They said I've grown so much since the last time they saw me.

I was especially happy to see Great Grandmother. When she first held me I was smiling alot! Unfortunately, Daddy didn't catch it with his camera... shame! But Grandpa did, but it didn't make this week's blog. We'll just need to add the picture next week!

Grandma Kan made all the food and it smelled soooo good. When my Grand Auntie Christina brought me by the roasted pig, I started licking my lips like crazy! Mommy says I'll have to wait until next year though...



Below are some pictures of me with my parents and Grandparents on New Years day. We got all dressed up and had a little photoshoot. Mommy and Daddy are so proud that I behaved for such a long time! We got some great pictures!

On Friday, we were so happy to be able to celebrate my Great Grand Uncle CK and Great Grand Auntie Kay's 45th anniversary! This was the first time I got to meet them. I felt so honored that they invited me to celebrate such an important event with them! It was also one of the first times I've been out of the house. My parents think I did very well...

At the dinner, I also got to meet Grand Uncle Dominic and Uncle Adrian. I couldn't get enough of Uncle Adrian. Hopefully Uncle will teach me to play soccer one day.











As for the rest of the week, I have been more and more alert of everything around me. I just love taking everything in... and cooing at the things I like.  Aside from batting my toys which you saw last week, I'm starting to really enjoy the mobile Uncle Jon got me.

And of course, I'm starting to smile more and more. Especially after I've eaten and get to play with my toys!

Week 5 - some fun pictures !

Hi everyone! Thanks for coming back to visit! I apologize in advance for the short blog entry this week but I'll try to make up for it with some fun pictures.

Here I am 5 weeks old, aren't I cute? I'm staying awake a little more during the day, and sleeping a little longer each night. When I rest particularly well, I'm calm and content just like this. Mommy likes it because on those days I tend to 'talk' to her by cooing alot.

 Speaking of sleeping, I can sleep on all sorts of positions! Look at where I ended up one time. Sooo much more comfortable than my crib!

 Here I am with the overnight bag that Uncle Chris, Auntie Emily, and Matthew got me. They are my parent's friends from San Francisco.

I guess my parents have no excuse not to visit now, they have plenty of space to put things in for their journey! I'm excited to meet Matthew!






Below are two look-a-like pictures. The first is of my late Great Grandpa Lam. He was being silly in this picture and Daddy says one the faces I make looks similar to him. What do you think?

 The 2nd picture is of me (left) and my cousin Elliot (right) when he was little. We're wearing the same exact outfit! How cool is that? Best part is, we make the clothes look good.... guess we're just going to be heartthrobs when we grow up. Cyber high-five, Elliot!

 I got this bib from my Auntie Tisha! I miss her alot because she lives so far away. I look forward to seeing her again soon.

 In addition to tummy time this week, Mommy set up the play gym for me. She hung up all these toys for me to look. Much to her surprise, I started playing with the toys. I don't have much control of my arms yet, but watch how I can touch the toys!
